About FDSOA Online
Operating out of Ashland, MA, the Fire Department Safety Officers Association was established in 1989 as a non-profit Association. Its mission is to promote safety standards and practices in the fire, rescue and emergency services community.
Challenge
The existing FDSOA site had contained a large amount of information, some of it accurate, some of it out of date, but all of it lost beneath a sprawling and somewhat confusing navigation system, and a muddied layout.
Solution
Ashdown Technologies began by restructuring the structure of the pages with an up front navigation bar and sub navigation items, in order to maximize visual real estate and group links coherently. FDSOA went through their pages and updated information as appropriate, while Ashdown Technologies created a new, more aesthetically pleasing look that was in line with other safety organizations while maintaining unique characteristics for FDSOA.
With numerous events going on at various different times, Ashdown Technologies brought the events to the forefront of the main page with a random event-link generator. Major yearly events for FDSOA include their annual conference and apparatus symposium, and online, secure registration forms for these were created.
The existing e-commerce and forum systems were carried over from the old site for budgetary reasons.
