Domain Name Choice: Use Your Head

The domain name choice you make for your new site is a critical decision as you create your new home on the internet.

You may not realize how many different factors need to be considered when selecting a domain name, and how many ways there are to craft the best selection for your needs Luckily, we at Ashdown Technologies are here to assist. (As always!)

How Important is a Domain Name?

Making a domain name choice is more important than you may think. It’s akin to naming your child…The right moniker can assist or impede the success of your tyke. (Or site!) Odds are your lovable little curtain climber will have an easier time achieving a respected and lucrative career if you name him Robert Jackson Smith, as opposed to Billy Bob Whackadoodle Smith.

The same goes for your website. For instance, your new pet lovers site will be more favorably promoted under “petfriends.com” as opposed to “thingsthatarefuntopet.net”.

For all intents and purposes, specificity is your friend and should be embraced. A direct correlation between your domain name and your subject matter will attract more viewers. If you are reading a restaurant menu, and you have a choice between a burger with ketchup and mustard on a bun, or a beef-like substance with red and yellow stuff cradled in a sesame seed speckled wheat product, which one are YOU going to choose?
